I’ve just finished updating the Privateer Theme to version 1.7, which is a fairly minor version update which replaces the menu system, adds support for the new WordPress 3.0 Menus, and rolls all bug fixes into 1.6.
I’m doing some final testing, but ( as you can see ) things appear to be working well. Note that the menu shown at the top of this site is using the new wordpress 3.0 menus.

Version 1.1 of the PWS WP Ad Manager is now available.
New features include:
- More sorting options
You can now choose to display ad spots in date, descending date, title, descending title, menu order, descending menu order, comment count, and descending comment count order in addition to the normal random order.
- Category Association
With the new related-cat=1 override, you can choose to have only ads which share a category with the current post, page, or category archive page show up while having your normally displayed items show on pages that do not have category associations.
- Tag Association
With the new related-tag=1 override, you can choose to have ads show up based upon the current pages tags.
- Not on Post/Page
With the new noshowon override, you can provide a list of post and/or page ids to have the ad block simply not show up on those posts and pages.
If you received version 1.0 of the Ad Manager, you should shortly get a download link to version 1.1 via email.

With a little bit of css knowledge and the ability to create gradients, you can get a lot of nice looks with the Privateer Theme quite easily.
This tutorial covers applying gradients and rounded corners to the the following items within the Privateer:
- The date feed site header bar
- The widget titles
- The post titles
You can certainly apply it to most other things within the theme though, at this time, you need to edit core_css.php in order to do this with the page menu bar and category menu bar.

This tutorial covers a few different things related to making your WordPress site look more like a business web site and less like a blog.
